eCanS facilitates collaboration between healthcare facilities that provide cancer care, health insurance companies, patients, hospitals, hospices etc. to enable early diagnosis, timely treatment, and ease the follow-up of cancer care. Participating cancer specialists and hospitals can implement their own virtual cancer care services without costly investment on proprietary technologies and technology infrastructure. Critical issues like data security, privacy, confidentiality, and role-based access, adopting standards like HL7, IHE, DICOM, etc. are integral to the eCanS approach.
