Magnum Messenger is an application which is similar to Vista Sidebar or Google Desktop or Yahoo Widgets, but specifically made for the Healthcare Industry. Magnum Messenger runs independent of any HIS, PACS or any other applications. It’s unique salient features are:

• Magnum messenger works independent of any HIS or any other Healthcare application
• Magnum messenger gadgets can be re-used within Vista Sidebar or Google Desktop without having to write any extra code
• Some of the gadgets include My Patients Gadget, Alerts Gadget, Mail Gadget, Authorization Gadget, Search Gadget, etc.
  

Technology:

Magnum Messenger has been developed using Microsoft WPF, WCF and WF technologies. The code has been written using C# and XAML. The gadgets can be developed using DHTML, JavaScript and CSS. Magnum messenger can work seamlessly with SRIT healthcare Products like RCare Magnum, RCare, XTransEDI, rChive, etc. Also, Magnum Messenger can work seamlessly with any other HIS products available in the market.

Magnum Gadgets:

The gadgets which are presently available in Magnum Messenger are:

• My Patients – This gadget can be used by any of the clinical actors like Doctor, Resident Doctor, Registered Nurse, Consultant Doctor, Surgeon, Radiologist, Physiotherapist, etc. This shows the list of patients who are being treated by that clinical actor and upon clicking the relevant patient automatically opens the relevant screen within the Hospital Information System (HIS) or within the Radiological Information System (RIS).
• My Orders – This gadget can be used by any of the clinical actors like Doctor, Resident Doctor, Registered Nurse, Consultant Doctor, Surgeon, Radiologist, Physiotherapist, etc. This gadget displays the list of orders placed by the clinical actor and the status of the orders in real time, for ex: Pending, Dispensed, Administered, Discontinued, etc.
• Authorization Gadget – This gadget can be used by any member within the Hospital or Provider workflow who has the permission to authorize any events or tasks. For ex: A Financial controller could get a list of requests to authorize payments, GL entries, Budget allocations, etc. A Doctor could see the list of requests for authorization like Controlled Dug orders which require authorization, a procedure which requires authorization, etc.
• Patient Alerts Gadget – This gadget displays all alerts related to a patient and includes Drug Dosage alerts, Drug Interaction alerts, Duplicate Drug alerts, Pregnancy indicator, etc.
• Alerts Gadget – This gadget displays all alerts related to any actor related to escalations, scheduled events, emergencies, etc. The gadget performs differently for each actor based upon their environment settings.
• System Administrator Gadgets – This gadget is specifically for the system administrators, it points out to critical issues like performance, crashes, alerts with respect to Disk Usage, space availability and many more.
  40+ gadgets – There are more than 40 gadgets which are prebuilt into Magnum Messenger like SMS Gadget, RSS gadget, Chat Gadget, Workflow Alert Gadget, Email Gadget, etc apart from the above defined gadgets. 
   

New Gadgets

It is very easy to build a gadget and requires basic knowledge of Java script, DHTML and creation of CSS files. The Hospital’s IT Team can build hundreds of new gadgets based on their requirements very easily.
