Corporate Social Responsibility @ SRIT

CSR @ SRIT involves a commitment to contribute to the economic, environmental and social sustainability through an on-going engagement with stakeholders, including customers, employees and community at large. Driven by the active participation of associates through the Corporate Buddy forum (a department and designation agnostic employee association within SRIT), the CSR program has been in operations for some years now.

Creating value for the society is an integral part of our business. CSR, for us, is to take on the role of a “corporate citizen” and ensure that business values and behavior are aligned to balance between developing the wealth of the business and improving society, people and the environment.

Although regular, our CSR activities are impulsive and spontaneous most of the time, addressing an immediate need identified by either the Corporate Buddies or any other SRITian. The Corporate Buddy forum helps provide a platform for all SRITians to voluntarily involve themselves in different kinds of activities that can improve the condition of the underprivileged. These CSR activities help bring out the best in each associate by fulfilling the natural urge to make a difference in the lives of the have-nots, thus helping them better appreciate their own privileges, otherwise enjoyed as a matter of right.

Some important initiatives carried out so far are;

  • Food Sponsoring for a few NGOs committed to provide food for the deprived

Corporate Buddies @ Rakum Blind School, Indiranagar
  • Monetary and moral aid to NGOs like Spastic Society of India, Karunashraya, Rakum Blind School, Cheshire Old Age Home etc.

  • Emergency Aid during natural disasters

    During the Tsunami disaster, all SRIT associates voluntarily contributed one day’s salary towards the Prime Minister’s Relief fund.
  • In-house exhibition-cum-sale of handmade products from the Spastics Society of India
  • Campaigns like ‘Wear a Helmet’, ‘Million Seed ball’, etc.

    The corporate buddies facilitated seeds, mud and water for interested associates to make seedballs. These seedballs balls were collected by an external agency and deposited in several areas in and around Bangalore to grow into saplings / trees.
  • Every month, one half of the previous month’s newspapers are donated to the Rakum Blind School students to practice Braille. The other half is donated to the Spastics Society of India, for the students to make paper products for sale.
  • Internal CSR activities for employees like Educational assistance programs, Emergency Response Teams, Emergency Helpline Number, etc.

    Providing yearly financial assistance to support staff like housekeeping members and drivers to meet the expenses of books and uniforms for their children at the beginning of the academic year, water dispenser installation in the reception for visitors’ use, self defense workshops for women, cyclic meditation, yoga classes, dental check ups and eye checks ups are conducted for all associates, apart from several awareness campaigns on energy conservation, paper wastage, water wastage, food wastage, etc.
