Introduction

Sobha Renaissance Information Technology (SRIT) has entered into a joint venture (JV) with Yunnan Sunpa Image Tel Tech Co. Ltd (Sunpa) in China to form a new entity called Sunpa Sobha Software (China) Ltd.  Headquartered in Kunming, Sunpa Sobha Software (China) Ltd. will have operating branches in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen.

Kunming is the capital city of Yunnan province, China. Because of its year-round temperate weather, Kunming is often called the "City of Eternal Spring”. With its lakes, hills, stones, caves, springs, and well known cultural relics & ethnic customs, Kunming has become one of China's ten major tourist attractions. Yunnan is the most southwestern province in China with a total land area of 394,000 square kilometers. Yunnan is the important land linkage to Southeast Asian countries’ hinterlands. At present, 12 state-level border ports were opened along the international boundaries of Sino-Vietnamese, Laos and Myanmar.

First JV between India and China in Healthcare ICT

India and China are both vast countries just opening to development, filled with opportunities for private equity investors. China is recognized as a place where partnerships are more difficult but the market potential is great and it has triggered striking research projects in recent years.

According to the industry news, the Chinese healthcare industry has been one of the fastest growing healthcare industries in the world. SRIT’s first foray into the Chinese Market and possibly the first JV between the two countries in the realm of Healthcare ICT opens up a whole new window of possibilities. SRIT chose ‘Yunnan Sunpa Image Tel Tech Co. Ltd (Sunpa)’ as its JV partner for its much-awaited foray into the Chinese Healthcare ICT market through a 9-month long market research, examining several synergistic fits. The immediate focus of the JV is on formulating the go-to-market strategy.

While the joint venture will position SRIT's flagship Software Products, “Renaissance Care Magnum” and “Renaissance rChive” in the various Chinese hospitals to address end-to-end automation of the clinical, radiological, medical imaging and eHealth areas, SRIT will integrate with Sunpa's telemedicine peripherals & devices in order to position these care devices in India and other geographies. It is a win-win situation for both the companies. With the China strategy frozen, SRIT has now completed market entry into 14 countries. China is the sixth country in the Far-East & S.E. Asian geography.

Sunpa Sobha Software (3S) will leverage SRIT's expertise in the Clinical, Radiological, Diagnostic and Medical Imaging software space and Sunpa's expertise in the tele-vital sign monitoring, tele-dermatology, tele-pathology, tele-radiology and other tele-diagnosis peripherals and devices. While, the solution offering will be co-branded as ‘Sunpa-Sobha’ in China, for other countries, the solution offering will be co-branded as ‘Sobha-Sunpa’. 3S's mission is to implement sustainable, virtual hospital networks and several care programs through innovative means, such that it is able to serve rural patients who do not have access to specialized medical services.  We would also aim to provide specialist care to support the country's increasingly critical healthcare prerogatives.  In all this, we would like to manage access to specialist care in rural areas, manage specialist care to other countries, develop capacity in the quality of health service delivery, and develop e-Health doctors’ virtual network. Further, we would aim at developing policies on pricing and medico-legal issues from an e-Health perspective, and adopt established standards in e-Health.

Conclusion

Mindsets play an important role in everyday international activities. The first step in any international business is to explore the connection between culture & mindsets and hence it becomes is very crucial to analyze the psychological dimension of international relations.  Working in an international environment is a special endeavor because one has to deal with entirely new patterns of mindsets.
